Charity fares

How did the charity fare come about? Our customers told us that in order to better serve their causes, it would be desirable to have business class flexibility, without paying a business class price. We responded by approaching airlines with this request and the Charity fare was born. We are proud to say that we now offer the widest and most competitive range of charity fares on the market.

What is a charity fare?

A Charity fare is not necessarily the cheapest fare on a given route at the time of booking, but it is usually the cheapest flexible fare, which is proven to generate significant savings for not-for-profit organisations.

Who is eligible for Charity fares?

Despite their name, Charity fares are not just available to our charity clients. Most of these fares are accessible to our University clients too. Your reservations consultant will be able to provide quotes on all the fare types available to your organisation.

How Charity fares can save you money

Flexibility

Plans change, especially when a charity is responding to an urgent and unforeseen situation. Charity fares enable organisations to change their plans at short notice, saving significant sums in cancellation or amendment charges.

Early booking

By having access to fares that are flexible and can be easily amended or cancelled, you are able to book tickets much further in advance, getting access to the best rates and saving money. If you wait until your plans are certain, then you may find the price of fares has gone up significantly compared to prices available earlier.

Extra baggage allowance

Many of the Charity fares allow free excess baggage so that you can take necessary equipment with you to fulfill your humanitarian work or research, saving money on additional charges.

Consolidated/Negotiated fares

Key Travel has negotiated preferential rates with over 90 airlines so that we can offer you great rates and terms on routes all over the world. These fares offer some of the flexibility of our charity fares, for example they can usually be held for a certain length of time without payment and changes are possible subject to a fee from the airline.

Published fares / Low Cost Airlines

Published fares are typically available through all agencies and directly through the airlines themselves, with no associated preferential terms. Many of these lower cost fares cannot be held meaning the fare is only guaranteed at time of enquiry/reservation and they are generally very restrictive in that they cannot be changed and are non-refundable. However, there are some exceptions and your reservations agent will advise you of the exact ticket conditions prior to confirming the ticket.
